This policy explains how the HowZone LED app ("the app") handles information. The app is published by Simplify (Hong Kong) Limited ("we", "us"), a company registered in Hong Kong.
The short version
The app has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. We do not run a server for the app, and we do not collect, store, sell or share your personal information. What you create and set up in the app stays on your phone.
Information kept on your phone
The app saves its settings on your phone, such as the names of your lights, rooms, groups, brightness and language. This information is not sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it.
Permissions the app asks for
- Bluetooth (and, on older Android versions, location): to find and control your LED lights nearby. The app does not use your location for anything else and does not record it.
- Microphone: for music-reactive effects that follow the sound around you, and for speaking text to show on a light. Sound is processed as it happens and is not recorded or saved.
- Speech recognition: to turn your spoken words into text for a light. Your phone's speech service does this. On some phones it may send audio to Apple or Google to recognise it, under their privacy policies.
- Photos and camera: to turn a picture you choose or take into an image on a light. The picture is processed on your phone and is not uploaded.
- Music library: to play music from your phone and make the lights react to it. Your music stays on your phone.
You can turn any of these permissions off in your phone's settings. The features that need them will then stop working.
AI features
Designs, drawings and text suggestions are created on your phone. Where your phone provides its own AI (Apple Intelligence or Gemini Nano), the app uses it on the device. When you choose to download one of the app's AI models, the app downloads it from ModelScope (modelscope.cn), which, like any download server, receives your device's internet address. Nothing you type or draw is sent to it.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the date above.
